Today the cotton is one of the most important textile materials for us. Already 14,000 years ago Egyptians should have used the cotton for the production of different clothes materials. In India one has found the oldest proof of the use of the cotton. Also in the Orient, in particular Babylon, it was known the people.
The cotton plant belongs to the type of the mallow plants. By the harvest of the seminal hair of the cotton shrubs one receives the popular wool.

Often one mixes cotton to nobler fibers to lower as for example Kashmir or the merino wool, under around the costs. To make by the admixture of art fibers as for example Elasthan or polyamide around the material more elastic and tear-proof.
